.Immediately after the first consultation the couple are given a series of tests called fertility workup. You are wrong if you’re thinking that these tests are for IVF directly. It is a 2- 6-month process and the doctor might also repeat a few tests and ask for new ones too. Once you get back all the results the doctor and you decide that IVF is the way to proceed. As the treatment begins you start with birth control pills which control the cycle to reduce the chance of cyst formation. Once your cycle is on a regular schedule the process of generating eggs will begin. \n\n

.IVF medicine is not usually covered and costs thousands of rupees, so shop around a drug store for best rates available in the locality. Glow page helps with a list of pharmacies specialized in fertility drugs. One egg matures per month in a normal ovulation cycle but the goal in IVF is to have many mature eggs which increases the success rate. During the stimulation phase of IVF, ovaries are stimulated to produce eggs through injections for approximately 8-14 days. \n\n

.IVF is a tedious process so make sure to surround yourself with caring people and importantly who tell the difference between when the medication works and when you need to work. Close monitoring through blood tests and vaginal ultrasound is done every day or on alternate days during this time. It requires a lot of commitment and the only positive thing is watching your follicles grow slowly each day aiming to get around 1.8mm. \n\n

.Have a habit of making notes and as you are the one who has invested more with the process. It’s important to know and ask what next as you have a series of follow up calls and make sure to keep a track of everything. Once your eggs are matured enough you will have some triggered symptoms which means they will be harvested in the next 36 hours. This is your big day when your doctor makes small incisions to take out those eggs individually. There might be cramping and drowsiness on waking up. These eggs are taken to meet your partner’s sperm and after a few days or a cycle later they are fertilized and ready to get implanted. From now on it’s a number game like how many eggs were harvested? Matured? Fertilized? how many are divided enough to plant them back again in 3-5days? how many managed for 14 days… So, one could imagine how complex the entire process is. \n\n

Still everything will go beautifully, and you will have a healthy baby growing in your belly soon… That’s your tiny miracle! Continuing with IVF treatment is a personal decision about how you feel, what you can endure and what you CE sacrifice.
